Throughout his career, Haydn was very flexible in his compositions; he composed in every genre of the time. Twenty-five symphonies, some in different versions, a dozen string quartets, a final book of baryton trios, an oratorio, six Italian operas, twenty keyboard sonatas… and this is only what we know about which has survived the Great Fire of 1779!
Here, then, is the list for this decade. While it is true that dates are more certain now than in previous decades, this is not to say there is an expectation of perfection here; nothing is written in stone! An example of uncertainty comes in the final ending date for the Baryton trios to have been composed. Since the last volume (Book 5) was finally gathered and published in 1778, theoretically any of those trios could have been composed right up to that time. However, there is absolutely no mention of the Baryton after the Divertimento Octets of 1775, and it is my belief that by then, all the trios were complete and that project had been put to bed, along with the Prince's interest in Barytons. So I put 1775 as the probable last date of composition for those works, based on probability more than possibility.
I have used the latest and best sources available to me, so this should do for getting by with. If you have any questions or comments, please, by all means, drop me a line and we can discuss. Here, then, the 1770's.
